Grades like SS 304, 316, or 316L are commonly used to make stainless steel perforated tubing. These grades are made of iron, 16–18% chromium, 8–13% nickel, and, occasionally, 2–3% molybdenum for increased corrosion resistance. These materials are very ductile and strong. Mechanical characteristics include an elongation of 35–40%, a yield strength of 170–310 MPa, and a tensile strength of 500–620 MPa. Because the perforated design does not seriously impair structural integrity, the tubing is perfect for high-performance applications that need both strength and the ability to filter or ventilate.
