Stainless Steel Instrumentation Tubing is generally manufactured from grades like SS 304, SS 316, and SS 316L. The alloy contains chromium (16–18%), nickel (8–14%), molybdenum (2–3% in 316/316L), carbon (≤0.03% in 316L), and traces of manganese, silicon, and phosphorus. The tubes possess good resistance to corrosion, excellent strength, and good weldability. The mechanical properties are tensile strength 485–620 MPa, yield strength ≥170 MPa, and elongation ≥35%. The low carbon content of the 316L prevents carbide precipitation, making it ideal for high-purity and high-temperature conditions.
