Stainless steel 904L seamless pipes are made of very little carbon (≤0.02%), 19–23% chromium, 23–28% nickel, 4–5% molybdenum, and 1-2 percent copper. Strong reducing acids and stress corrosion cracking are exceptionally resistant to this special composition. Mechanical characteristics include an elongation of at least 35%, a yield strength of about 220 MPa, and a tensile strength of about 490 MPa. When annealed, SS 904L is non-magnetic and retains its structural integrity even in extremely acidic or corrosive conditions.
