Stainless Steel 446 Tubing is a ferritic, high-chromium steel that normally has 23–27% chromium, low carbon (≤0.2%), and trace amounts of silicon, manganese, and molybdenum. This composition provides remarkable resistance to scaling and oxidation at high temperatures. Tensile strength ranges from 415 to 620 MPa, yield strength is approximately 275 MPa, and elongation is roughly 20%. For furnace parts, heat exchangers, and other applications needing both thermal durability and corrosion resistance in harsh industrial environments, SS 446 is perfect because it maintains structural stability and corrosion resistance at temperatures above 1000°C.
