446 Stainless Steel High-chromium, ferritic stainless steel pipes have a low carbon content (≤0.20%) and roughly 23–27% chromium. Tiny amounts of titanium and molybdenum may also be present in this alloy. Excellent resistance to oxidation, sulfidation, and high-temperature corrosion is provided by SS 446. It has a yield strength of about 275 MPa and a tensile strength between 485 and 620 MPa. Despite not being heat-hardenable, it retains its structural integrity when subjected to constant thermal cycling. SS 446 is appropriate for extremely hot environments because it also shows good creep strength and corrosion resistance in atmospheres containing sulphur and chloride.
