Stainless Steel 416HT Pipes are a free-machining, high-sulfur martensitic stainless steel version of SS 416 that has been heat-treated (HT) to increase its hardness and strength. To increase machinability, the composition usually consists of 12–14% chromium, 0.15% carbon, and a higher sulphur content (0.15–0.35%). Following heat treatment, 416HT reaches a hardness of up to 35–40 HRC and a tensile strength of 700–895 MPa and yield strength of 480–620 MPa. Excellent machinability, good wear resistance, and consistent mechanical properties for precision-machined components are its main advantages, even though it has a moderate resistance to corrosion.
