SS 317 has more molybdenum than 316 and provides better resistance against pitting and crevice corrosion. SS 317L is the low-carbon version, which is used for improved weldability and intergranular corrosion resistance. Stainless Steel 317 and 317L Welded Pipes have 18–20% Chromium, 11–15% Nickel, and 3–4% Molybdenum for increased corrosion resistance. SS 317 has up to 0.08% carbon content, whereas 317L has a maximum of 0.03%, enhancing weldability and immunity against sensitization. The remaining components are Manganese (≤ 2.00%), Silicon (≤ 1.00%), Phosphorus (≤ 0.045%), and Sulfur (≤ 0.03%). These pipes provide tensile strength of ≥ 515 MPa, yield strength ≥ 205 MPa, and elongation of 35%, ensuring long-term durability in corrosive and high-pressure conditions.
