High concentrations of chromium (19.5–20.5%), nickel (17.5–18.5%), and molybdenum (6–6.5%) make up SMO 254 Pipes. Nitrogen (0.18–0.22%) and low carbon (≤0.02%) are also added. Because of its composition, it has an exceptional resistance to corrosion, with a PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number) > 42.5. Excellent elongation (≥35%), a yield strength of ~300 MPa, and a tensile strength of ~650 MPa are among its mechanical attributes. Even at extremely low temperatures, SMO 254 exhibits good impact toughness, is non-magnetic, and retains its strength and ductility in harsh chemical and marine environments.
