Invar 42 Pipe consists of about 41–43% Nickel and the remainder Iron, with minor elements such as Carbon, Manganese, Silicon, and Phosphorus. Its major characteristic is a very low coefficient of thermal expansion, thus being dimensionally stable in a range of temperatures. The alloy has a tensile strength of approximately 485 MPa, yield strength of 275 MPa, and excellent ductility with elongation of about 30%.
