Aluminium 2014 Tubing has aluminium as the base metal with alloying constituents of copper (3.9%–5%), manganese (0.4%–1.2%), magnesium (0.2%–0.8%), and silicon (0.5%–1.2%). All these constituents give remarkable hardness and strength. Its average tensile strength lies between 450 and 483 MPa, with yield strength at about 390 MPa. Its elongation percentage is around 10–13%, subject to the temper. Aluminium 2014 has excellent fatigue resistance and can be heat treated for added performance, but it has poorer corrosion resistance than some other alloys and might need to be protected on the surface in severe environments.
