Alloy Steel P9 Pipes consist mainly of Chromium (8–10%) and Molybdenum (0.90–1.10%) along with traces of Carbon, Manganese, Phosphorus, Sulfur, and Silicon. The composition offers oxidation resistance and high-temperature strength. The common mechanical properties are tensile strength of 415 MPa (min), yield strength of 205 MPa (min), and elongation of 30%. These pipes have also been known for their very good hardness, stressed stability in structure, and satisfactory creep strength, thus being used for severe service conditions in power plants and chemical industries.
